The architect Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val, professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, has been awarded the 2011 Luis BarragánChair of the high school Tecnológico y de programs of study Superiores de Monterrey (Mexico). lecture At the end of October, he will deliver the master lecture "Duality, miscegenation and heterodoxy" at the Metropolitan Theater in Mexico City.

The Chair Luis Barragán (CLB) was created in 2000 at the high school Tecnológico y de programs of study Superiores de Monterrey, as a tribute to Luis Barragán and to all the architects of the world who manage to reflect contemporary art and culture through their work. The Chair has distinguished internationally renowned architects from Uruguay, Australia, Japan, Finland, Egypt, Argentina, India, Colombia, Mexico and Spain.

More than seventy first prizes in public competitions
Miguel A. Alonso del Val (Burgos, 1956) is an urban architect (1979) and Doctor of Architecture (1983), with Extraordinary Awards from the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Currently, he is Full Professor of Projects in the campus of Pamplona and Full Professor honorary of the University of the Isthmus (Guatemala). Lecturer at numerous Spanish Schools and Colleges of Architects, he has been Visiting Professor at centers in the USA, Great Britain, Guatemala, Mexico and Spain.

He has also researched in the fields of modern architecture, the theory of project and sustainable urbanism, and has won more than seventy first prizes in public competitions. His work has been exhibited and published in numerous exhibitions, catalogs, books and professional journals. Among his most recognized works are the Ericsson BTC Building, the sports center of the University of Navarra, the renovation of the Sanctuary of Aránzazu, the Gran Espacio Escénico in Granada and the National Museum of Energy in Ponferrada.
