Alberto Veiga, graduate of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, has been awarded the award of contemporary architecture of the European Union-Mies Van der Rohe for the building of the Szczecin Philharmonic (Poland), a work of his studio Barozzi/Veiga.

The jury has chosen this project as the winner among 420 works selected from a total of 36 countries. The award is endowed with 60,000 euros.

The building houses four main uses, a large symphonic conference room that can accommodate up to 1000 people, a chamber conference room for 250 spectators, and an area for exhibitions, which, like the area of the building's access entrance hall , can be used as a multifunctional area.

The jury noted that "in its materiality, the building is perceived as an element of light: the glass facade, illuminated from the inside, allows different perceptions. The austere exterior and the simple composition of the interior circulation spaces contrast with the expressiveness of the main conference room and the conference room concert hall covered with gold leaf." The building for the Szczecin Philharmonic is located on the same site as the former iconic "Konzerthaus", which was destroyed during World War II.
