Last Wednesday, February 22, the Plenary Hall of the Parliament of Navarre hosted a plenary session led by first year students of the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra. In it, the students debated under the degree scroll "Do we live in a democracy?", in the framework of the dissemination activities organized by the Legislative Foral.

In the presentation of the activity, the dean of the School of Education and Psychology, Concepción Naval, and professor of the subject Theory of the Education, where this internship is framed, wanted to point out the two objectives that the workshop raises, which are "to bring the parliamentary institution closer to the students, and to promote democratic values, within the study of the social dimension of the Education".

According to Naval, participation is the raison d'être of democracy, but participation should not be seen as something purely procedural, "it is not about participating for the sake of participating, but about why participate, what to participate in and why do it".

The students had the opportunity to stage a plenary session of the Executive Council of discussion in the parliamentary seat based on the work they had previously made, which had focused on three questions: what is democracy and who are its protagonists, what is the core topic to encourage civic participation in a society, and the impact of what a university student does for the promotion of citizenship.
