The Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and the Passivhaus Consortium - (ECCN) have signed a agreement of partnership that will serve to bring students closer to the professional reality in the field of sustainable Building , an essential requirement that professionals in the sector will need to develop their projects from January 2019, when the new European law on construction and energy efficiency will come into force.

Miguel A. Alonso del Val, director of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, and Luis Antonio Martínez, as University Secretary of the Passivhaus Consortium, have starred in the signature of the agreement that will begin to be carried out next week, taking advantage of the celebration in Pamplona of ediFicathe first national fair to be held in this field - and which a few days ago was joined by the Government of Navarra's Nasuvinsa company - and where the professionals themselves will address the public to show, first hand, the benefits of living in a Passivhaus home.

In this framework, the students of the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Management of Buildings taught by the University of Navarra will orally defend in ediFica the works they have developed for the end of Master's Degree. These projects will also be exhibited at sample , which will be open to the public on Thursday morning, June 28, and will remain open until Saturday 30 at the Baluarte Conference Center and Auditorium of Navarra. The public will be able to listen to the defenses that will be presented on June 28 from 3 to 8 pm.

Ana Sánchez-Ostiz, deputy director of research of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and director of Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings, said that the presence of students in ediFica is a convenience to approach the sector. "The participation in the Edifica Fair is for the School, and in particular for the students of Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings, who are the ones who participate directly in it, a new opportunity to be in contact with the sector of energy efficiency and nearly zero consumption buildings," she said.

A large part of the ten papers prepared by the students of the Master's Degree in design and management Environmental Buildings have been carried out in partnership with companies working in the field of energy efficiency. Therefore, the research field not only focuses on the 'Passivhaus' standard, but also covers other areas such as passive strategies, sustainability measurement systems or energy simulations, among others. "It is an opportunity to bring to light the Final Projects of Master's Degree that are carried out in these companies. These works try to quantify sustainability so that they do not remain in ideas or concepts, but that there is a scientific knowledge that supports the energy savings achieved with the measures proposed in the Building", has clarified Sanchez-Ostiz.

The Master's Degree

In this way, the students will put the finishing touch to the Master's Degree training experts in sustainability in the Building, both in the design and in the quantification of the efficiency of the measures adopted. Specifically, the syllabus focuses on energymanagement (active and passive measures), materials (sustainable materials, life cycle analysis) and environmental certification (monitoring, LEED, BREAAM).

The training internship of the students acquires relevance with the realization of the work End of Master's Degree (TFM) in companies of the sector. This opportunity involves the application of all the knowledge and skills acquired during the program in a real environment. With the development of the finalproject within the business, the student also acquires other professional competencies that facilitate their employability and foster their entrepreneurial skills.
