Carlos Baute: "This concert is a way to alleviate and solve the suffering of refugees".

Venezuelan singer to perform in Pamplona on November 19 in support of Syrian refugees

On Saturday, November 19, Venezuelan singer Carlos Baute will offer a concert in favor of Syrian refugees. It will take place at the Baluarte Auditorium at 8: 30 p.m. and all proceeds will go to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR), in order to provide them with resources to face the winter and help their integration in the host countries.

The concert is organized by committee Spanish UNHCR and Tantaka, the Solidarity Time Bank of the University of Navarra; with the partnership of the Obra Social "la Caixa" and the City Council of Pamplona; as well as the support of Bodega Otazu, Cope Navarra, Hotel Muga de Beloso and Navarra Capital.

The presentation at press conference was attended by Yolanda Andueza, from committee Spanish UNHCR; Beatriz Castillo, from Tantaka; Jose Luis Larríu, Director de Empresas de Obra Social "la Caixa" in Navarra; Maider Beloki, Councilor of Culture of the City Council of Pamplona; and Carlos Baute, live via videoconference.

The singer said that "this concert is a way to alleviate and solve the suffering of refugees". He also encouraged all the people of Navarre to collaborate and thanked the organizing team. About the repertoire of the concert, he said: "Although it is in a theater, all the songs are for dancing. The goal is that the public enjoys and forget about the problems while helping other people".

Beatriz Castillo, from Tantaka, thanked all the organizers and collaborators of this concert for their work and effort. "We have been working with UNHCR for more than a year on the project 'Warmth for refugees'; first with a concert at the high school Mayor Belagua and now with the performance of Carlos Baute thanks to two of our volunteers, Adela Ortega and Jose Alcorta, and many others behind," she explained.

11.4 million refugees and displaced persons

Yolanda Andueza, from the UNHCR Spanish committee , stressed that "there are already more than five years of civil war in Syria, with 11.4 million people between refugees and displaced persons". She encouraged all Navarrese to help, who have always been willing to do so.

With a €18 entrance , the NGO will be able to distribute insulating mattresses to two refugee families so that they do not sleep on the floor. The €28 will provide diapers for a baby for six months, while for €36 a Syrian child will be able to receive Education in the host country. For each €50 entrance , cold weather kits consisting of five thermal blankets, a plastic sheet, a stove, a kerosene canister and a water canister can be distributed.

For her part, the Councilor of Culture of Pamplona, Maider Beloki, said that "the City Council gives the Baluarte" and that "is always willing to help". Jose Luis Larríu said that "in recent years La Caixa has made a turn in its social work to help people" and that they are "delighted to collaborate" to "help people who are suffering one of the great world dramas".
