The book Francisco Mangado. Auditorium of Teulada-Moraira (Laberinto de Paixons), which belongs to a collection of monographs, dedicates its pages to the work of the Navarrese architect and professor at School of Architecture of the University of Navarra.

This publication consists of three parts: an interview with the author at position by architect Carlos Quintans, illustrated with hand drawings by Francisco Mangado and photographs of project; a photographic report at position by Juan Rodríguez; and a reproduction of the drawn project , a technical selection of plans and construction details of the work.

Teulada-Moraira, in the province of Alicante, is a physically duplicated municipality. The building of the new auditorium, which has an area of 5,100 square meters, was born as a bridge between both physical realities of the municipality and a reference letter that allows to see and be seen from both points.

The south façade, the most singular element

The most singular element of project is the south façade, which faces the sea. On the one hand, in metaphorical terms, this façade recreates a topography similar to a beach that, from a distance, can be seen merged with the sea. In more practical terms, its geometry has as goal that the sun's rays never fall directly on the interior.

Francisco Mangado was born in Navarra in 1957. He holds a degree in architecture from technical school of the University of Navarra, where he has been a professor since 1982. In the field of teaching, he has also been visiting professor at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University. He has also been Eero Saarinen Visiting Professor of Architecture at School of Architecture at Yale University.
