The Fuerte Príncipe municipal nursery school in the neighborhood of La Milagrosa (Pamplona), by Pereda y Pérez Arquitectos graduates, has obtained the award Construmat 2013 in the category of Building.

The project is signed by Óscar Pérez Silanes and Carlos Pereda Iglesias, alumni of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, and was built by Guillén Obras y Proyectos. Marc Buxó, graduate in Technical Architecture from the academic center, also participated in the construction management.

The Construmat jury valued "the intelligent balance between the minimal and optimized materials used and the objectives achieved". It also emphasized that the nursery school, which is partially underground, "integrates harmoniously into its context without altering it and generates open and closed interior spaces, rich in nuances of form, texture and light".

On the other hand, he praised "the rational contribution of innovative aspects that incorporate functional, energy saving, manufacturing, construction, conservation and maintenance concepts, without forgetting the fact of achieving this at an adjusted cost".

The school is located at place Alfredo Floristán and has an area of 1,489 m2 and 639 m2 of urbanization. Its construction began in May 2010 and its financing was supported by European Union ERDF funds.

José Ignacio Alfonso, director of the City Council, collected the award at the International Construction Exhibition, organized by the high school Construction Technology of Catalonia (ITeC) and held in Barcelona.

The Fuerte Príncipe nursery school competed in the category of Building with the leisure center in Azuqueca de Henares (Guadalajara), the Osona housing building in Vic (Barcelona), the university housing at campus of ETSAV in Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona), the provisional Sunday market in Sant Antoni in Barcelona and the VPO special regime housing El Águila Alcatel in Madrid.

The pedestrian footbridge over the Júcar River in Cuenca won the highest distinction in the Civil Engineering category and HALF lightweight self-compacting concrete, from business Promsa, won the award Construmat de Producto 2013.
