The Chair of language and Basque Culture of the University of Navarra has organized, in partnership with the Museum of the academic center and the Regional Government, some conference to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the group Gaur .

This group, which was born in 1966 with a manifesto presented at the Barandiaran gallery in San Sebastian, was formed by the artists Jorge Oteiza, Eduardo Chillida, Nestor Basterretxea, Remigio Mendiburu, Rafael Ruiz Balerdi, Juan Luis Zumeta, Amable Arias and Jose Antonio Sistiaga

According to the director of meeting, professor Gabriel Insausti, "the event will be a good opportunity to reflect on this group of artists that meant a fundamental revulsive of the Basque art of the 1960s".

The events, which will be held at the University of Navarra Museum, include a film series, which will take place every Thursday in October, with screenings of the films Ama Lur, Urs, Operation H, Impressions in the High Atmosphere, Homage to Tarzan, Dunbots and Nortasuna.

A symposium has also been organized for the 27th and 28th of the same month, in which various experts will participate and which will be closed by José Antonio Sistiaga, one of the founders of group Gaur. The events will end with a performance by the group Iruñako Duguna Taldea.
