He currently directs the Master's Degree University of Architecture (MUA) and is a member of the board governing board of the European Architecture Historians Network, EAHN.

José Ángel Medina Murua (San Sebastián, 1975), professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and director of the University of Navarra, has been appointed of the Euskadiko Arkitektura Institutua. Master's Degree University Degree in Architecture (MUA)has been appointed director of the Euskadiko Arkitektura Institutua-high school de Arquitectura de Euskadi (EAI-IAE).

This institution, created in 2018, is promoted by the department of Environment, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Basque Government with the partnership with the department of Culture of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa. Its purpose is to bring Architecture closer to the citizens, to socially generate a taste for this field in a broad sense, understood as cultural and civic enjoyment.

As its new director, José Ángel Medina, from San Sebastian, explains, "the creation of the Basque Architecture high school two years ago meant the incorporation of a pioneer model in Spain but with a long tradition in countries such as France, Belgium or Holland". 

For the current team at the helm, which he heads, "it is a fascinating challenge to be able to participate and influence the development of our cities through an intense and ambitious program of conferences, exhibitions and meetings of different depth". "Within these activities", details the also professor and researcher, "it is worth mentioning the organization of the 3rd Edition of the MUGAK Architecture Biennial, scheduled for November 2021".

Among the challenges he intends to address with his team, José Ángel Medina highlights the work of historical recording of fundamental architectures, "the dissemination of architectural current affairs and, finally, the future projection of models of living and the development of cities".

graduate in Architecture in 2000 with award Schindler Fin de degree program, he finished his doctorate in 2005 at the University of Navarra, where he has remained linked to department Projects of his School of Architecture. His thesis focused on the development of the Modern Movement in Spain in the 1930s, the results of which were disseminated in numerous publications and international congresses.

Professor Medina has taught and participated in courses and lectures at the Politécnico de Monterrey (Mexico), La Pontificia Universidad Católica de Ecuador or at GSAPP of Columbia University, New York; as well as at the Stiftung Bibliothek Werner Oechslin, in Einsiedeln (Switzerland) and at the ETH Zurich. Between 2012 and 2015 she was director of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and since 2018 she directs her Master's Degree University in Architecture (MUA) at her campus in Madrid.

Member of the governing board of European Architecture Historians Network EAHN since 2016, to his research work and professor is added the professional internship in his studio Medina&Murua Arkitektura, work that has earned him various awards and publications.
