Alejo J. Sison first professor from a European university elected Board Member of the Society for Business Ethics

The Full Professor will accede to the presidency of the Society of Business Ethics in three years.

The Full Professor of the School of Economics, Alejo José Sison Alejo José Sison, has been elected member of the top committee of the Society of Business Ethics. A distinction that, until now, no professor from a European university had received. The recent position carries with it the promotion to president of the entity within three years.

The Society for Business Ethics (SBE) is the most prestigious international forum whose members are academics, students and professionals from various countries with a common interest in the research, the teaching or the application of ethical principles to the management business.

Professor Sison has also been awarded, together with Laura Albareda (Lappenrantra University of Technology), the Best Ethics Paper Award from the Academy of Management, Social Issues in Management division, for the work Commons Paradigm: Embedding Common Good and Collective Action. Insights from Ethical and Economic Foundations.

Alejo J. Sison is Professor of Business Ethics at School of Economics at the University of Navarra and also holds appointments at the Catholic University of America and Georgetown University, both in Washington, DC. This past 18/19 academic year he taught Business Ethics as Visiting Ordinary Professor at the Busch School of the Catholic University of America and Ethics in Public Policy at the McCourt School of Georgetown University. He is researcher principal of the Virtue Ethics in Business Research Group at School in Economics. He was president of the network European Business Ethics (EBEN) from 2009 to 2012 and accredited Full Professor in 2015.

He is publisher of the Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics Quarterly. He researches topics where ethics, Economics and politics converge, from the perspective of virtues and the common good. Among his most notable works are "Happiness and Virtue Ethics in Business" (Cambridge University Press, 2015), "Handbook of Virtue Ethics in Business and Management" (Springer, 2017), and "Business Ethics, A Virtue Ethics and Common Good Approach" (Routledge, 2018).
