New edition of the award PFC of the Chair Wood and the University School of Architecture

The winning project Final of degree program must have wood as a central component in its design and register at competition before April 20, 2010.

The Chair Madera -an entity formed by the University of Navarra and the Government of Navarra- and the School of Architecture have announced a new edition of the PFC Awards, organized since 2013 and aimed at recognizing the best final projects of degree program of Architecture that have wood as a central component in their design and integrate environmental and sustainability aspects.

award All Architecture graduates who have submitted their final project in any officially recognized School of Architecture at home country between September 2017 and February 2021, and who have been considered eligible to obtain the degree scroll (exceptionally, projects that are still pending can be submitted to the competition at grade as long as they attach a letter from tutor showing their conformity).

The projects must be submitted in Spanish or English before April 30, prior registration at competition until April 20, as specified at instructions of the contest.

The winning proposal will receive a scholarship for attend to the Second Forum on Wood Construction in Spain; as well as another scholarship for the realization of the summer course on Wood Construction of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra. Course that allows students to deepen in the characteristics of the material, in the techniques of modern construction with wood and in the future technological and scientific advances; coordinated by the professor and director of the Chair Madera José Manuel Cabrero (Spanish expert in the group of work of Joints of the Eurocode 5) and in which will also participate the professor Peer Haller (TU Dresden, Germany).

Second Wood Construction Forum Spain: June 2021

The Jury of the award PFC will be formed by a representative of the Chair Madera, a professor of the School of Architecture and a prestigious architect, who will meet during the month of May to analyze the proposals submitted and decide the award.

Among the criteria that will be analyzed are the use of wood as the main structural material, the creative and innovative use of this material in the design, the appropriate response to basic functional and architectural criteria, as well as the architectural coherence and the sustainability and environmental criteria of the projects.

The award to the winning project will be presented at framework of the Second Forum on Building with Wood Spain, which is scheduled to be held in Pamplona in June 2021.
