The Navarre of renewable energies

The tragic effect of the tsunami on one of the Japanese power plants located at sea level, Fukushima, raises several readings for those who signature . First of all, mourning for the victims, praise for so much heroism and sobriety in the face of the catastrophe and the feeling of solidarity with a country to which Pamplona is affectionately and institutionally united by the twinning with the city that gives its name to a park in which the Japanese capacity to pamper nature, to beautify the counter-measures of universal value, can be appreciated. From a geographical perspective, Yamaguchi and its surroundings is the second place of meeting and sociability of the southern Pamplona, that is, of a varied third Ensanche that begins in the Park of Antoniutti and ends in Mendebaldea, and that agglutinates a diversity of neighborhoods of varied design. From the park itself, tourists can appreciate the variety of architecture found around the pond.

Secondly, another reading is linked to the harmful effects that the plant's leaks (which have not yet been completely neutralized) can have on the environment. This discussion is transferred, by extension, to the role that nuclear energy must play from now on. In fact, the use of atomic energy, which is rejected by a part of European public and political opinion, and especially in Spain, is called into question. With a view to the future, serious questions are being asked about the continuity of the construction of new plants, at least until the research on plants free of radioactive effects is completed in a long deadline . On the other hand, oil is nowadays subject to a rise in the price per barrel that we do not know how high it can go and that will possibly increase after the nuclear catastrophe that has not yet been completed.
Even so, comparing Chernobyl with Fukushima would be foolish. The tsunami was the cause, not the age of the plant, a "victim" of the tsunami.

Thirdly, the tragedy leads us to think about Pamplona again, this time from a technical point of view.clean energies are now acquiring great value and a very promising future. During the last few years there has been an expansion B and international repercussion of the research and production of wind turbines. Three companies are well known to Navarrese people: one of them located in the Elorz Valley and the other two in Sarriguren, the latter forming part of a multinational network.

The first, known by the name of its founder (Manuel Torres), was created in 1975 and later diversified into several companies. A product of its research is the design of a multipolar wind generator. It is currently researching desalination and automation processes to manufacture wind turbine blades at association with Gamesa.

Gamesa, of Basque origin and with several plants in Spain, is present in some twenty countries on four continents with thirty centers.
countries on four continents with thirty centers. Its presence in Sarriguren is very visible, with an office plant and another under construction to house a large group of company employees currently dispersed in Navarra (1,700 employees, representing 23% of the global workforce). On the other hand, Acciona is a business originally created by the Government of Navarra for the development of renewable energies and later acquired by it. It has several subsidiaries: a solar energy plant in Sarriguren itself and others for the production of wind turbines in Barasoain, blades in Lumbier, biomass in Sangüesa or biofuels in Caparroso.

Finally, it can be seen once again that business innovation is characterized by an alliance between good architecture and green spaces, as in the case of the so-called "eco-city". A clear example of this is the lake, one more among those found in the area Metropolitan Pamplona.

In final Navarra possesses and participates in an innovative and productive asset of the first magnitude and that in the new circumstances is going to develop a function of the first relevance in the world of the energy, more when the aerogeneration takes the path of not needing subsidies, at the same time that it increases its presence in the international market (Europe, China, USA and India), every time with greater dynamism. So many Navarrese are part of this creative flowering, either alone or with their families, in many countries.
