Baroque houses and palaces in the Baztan Valley

Jaureguia Palace, Irurita
This building is a magnificent and clear exponent of the social and economic reality of Baztan in the decline of the Age of Enlightenment, as it merges a late medieval tower, typical of the rural nobility of Baztan, with a stately eighteenth-century building, a mirror of the enrichment overseas. This architectural fusion only shows and highlights the marriage contracted in 1773 by the heiress of the estate, Teresa Echenique, with the Indian Tiburcio Hualde, who had become rich in the trade of Lima.
