Master's Degree University in Architecture kicks off in Madrid

The opening of Master's Degree took place in the new Alumni building of the University.

Professionals and students of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra have attended the opening of the Master's Degree University Degree in Architecture which qualifies for professional practice. In welcoming the event, Ángel José Gómez Montoro, director of the University of Navarra's Madrid Campus , said to the students: "Today is a special day. You are the first students to study this first Master's Degree in this building. You are the pioneers, in a way you are making history".

At a time of expansion and internationalization for the University of Navarra, the School of Architecture opens the Master's Degree with two locations: London and Madrid. Miguel A. Alonso, director of the School, stressed to the attendees the need to get out of the classroom, to meet other students from postgraduate program at the same status, which in environments such as Madrid and London can be an exciting adventure. In his speech he also encouraged the students to leave the 'traditionaltraining ': "It is necessary to open doors to diversification, that the architect can do multidisciplinary things".

With the training with which IESE collaborates at Master's Degree, students can fill in the knowledge at area of management: "This new generation of architects will be able to influence a productive and business environment," said Miguel A. Alonso. He also stressed the importance of integrating internships into the training program, as it is an effective way of providing a contrast with real life. For his part, Juan Antonio Galán, director associate of IESE Business School Madrid, was optimistic about the success of Master's Degree: "This Master's Degree has brought together the School's years of successful experience and the School's know-how.

After the welcoming ceremony, presentation was presented to position by director and deputy director of Master's Degree José Ángel Medina and Mayka García-Hípola. Medina, after quoting Van der Rohe, conveyed the enthusiasm of all those who are part of Master's Degree. "The Master's Degree will do well if you do well. I encourage you to count on all of us to help you develop your potential". He also invited the students to help and improve. For her part, Mayka García-Hípola, after speaking about the specific organization of Master's Degree University in Architecture, pointed out some of the differential aspects of Master's Degree: the experience of the University, the methodology of School of Architecture and the specific practices, which help to create networking. The presentation of the Master's Degree concluded by going down to the concrete: The Study program and the academic calendar.
