Iñaki Echeverría, semifinalist in the international FameLab competition
Iñaki Echeverría was a semi-finalist in the competition international science monologue competition FameLab, which was held on June 6 in Cheltenham (UK) and brought together participants from 25 countries.

Iñaki Echeverría, from Navarre, did not make it past the semifinal round of the competition international scientific monologue contest FameLab, which took place in the United Kingdom on June 6 and in which the winner of the final was Tim Gordon, representative of the United Kingdom. The final phase, held in the auditorium in Cheltenham, was contested by the winners from the United Kingdom, South Africa, Korea, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Egypt, Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, Thailand and Romania.
Echeverría has followed the same thematic line as the monologue that won him the Madrid final ("Let me out") where he talked about the FIS effect and how people behave in risk situations in evacuation processes, issues that he addresses in his line of research.
The Navarrese describes his participation in the competition as "enriching", "multicultural", "exciting" and "positive" where, among other things, he has been able to learn about the work that many national and international scientists do. The PhD student of the School of Sciences points out that he has enjoyed a lot with the preparation and adaptation of his speech to the international public: "the status in the United Kingdom with the Brexit, his last place in this past Eurovision Song Contest and the mere fact of being English, already left us a good Library Services of humor to use".
The winner of FameLab Spain 2019 has highlighted the importance of this subject of divulgative events to bring science closer to society: "To divulge is to share knowledge, it is to learn, it is fun, it is to create and motivate. But above all, it is the most powerful tool of scientists to advance".
Iñaki Echeverría Huarte was born in Pamplona and is 24 years old. He studied Physics at the University of Zaragoza and a Master's Degree in Mathematical Modeling and research at the University of the Basque Country. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis at the department of Physics and Applied Mathematics of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.
