152 high school students visit Baluarte under the guidance of Patxi Mangado
The activity is part of the 'Architecture Week', co-organized by the School of Architecture and the high school Official Basque-Navarre Architects' Association.
152 students of 3rd and 4th of ESO have given quotation today in Baluarte to know the process of design and construction of the building from the hands of its author, the architect Patxi Mangado. The activity is part of the 'Architecture Week' program, co-organized by the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and the high school Official Basque-Navarre Architects' Association.
The architect said during the visit that "the building is blind because I wanted to create the sensation of being a wall that frames the entrance to the city". Likewise, the choice of the color of the building is due to the landscape and environmental color of the city. "Pamplona is a gray city, hence the color of the Baluarte," he explained.
In this sense, he also recalled that it is important that the buildings "make the city" and that they "relate to it". Finally, Mangado also wanted to talk about "the good Education", making reference letter to "interest". "The good Education is to wonder about things, the why of these. A good Education should encourage a critical spirit".
