An industrial envelope but with life inside it. This could be one of the headlines to describe the 80 proposals that last year's 4th year Architecture students presented for the old Echavacoiz grain silo located in the future residential area between Echavacoiz, Cizur Mayor and the Cendea de Cizur.

The arrival of the high-speed train to the region marks the genesis of an idea that, although it has not yet been carried out, has been captured by the students of the School in works that collect the last milestones of design in housing, always respecting the industrial tradition of the place. "Maintaining the industrial essence of the building was one of the main objectives of the work, despite the fact that the building radically changed its use," said Professor Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val.

A total of 16 works have been selected for the sample which currently houses Workshop 4 of the School and in which we find duplex dwellings, terraces, industrial materials, conference room exhibitions, etc., in full harmony with the design.

The exhibition has been visited by the councilman of area of Urbanism, Housing and Environment of the City Council of Pamplona Juan José Echeverría, as well as the director of the School José Ángel Medina, and the professors Luis Suárez Mansilla and Miguel Ángel Alonso del Val; the latter, in addition, drafter of the whole urban plan that entails the arrival of the high speed train to the region.

Camino de Santiago Residential Park

The Echavacoiz silo, built in 1964, is only a small part of the entire project urban development that will be carried out in the area known as Parque Residencial Camino de Santiago. If the remodeled Echavacoiz silo, measuring some 3,600 square meters, is expected to house between 30 and 32 2- and 3-bedroom homes, the new residential complex is expected to have a total of 9,000 homes, as well as health and sports facilities, parks and a trade fair, among others.
