The Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness will subsidize a project of the School of Architecture
Professor Eduardo Bayo's team has been one of the four chosen in the "Construction (BIA)" category.
The Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness of the Government of Spain will subsidize a project of research of department Construction, Facilities and Structures of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra together with the University of La Coruña, coordinated by Professor Eduardo Bayo. The two projects have been chosen from a total of four in the "Construction (BIA)" category.
The subsidy comes from the Call for Projects of the State Program for the Promotion of Scientific and Technical Excellence research that the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness grants to the most important projects, without predefined thematic orientation, consisting of experimental or theoretical work undertaken with the goal primary objective of obtaining results that represent a significant advance of the knowledge.
Under the degree scroll "Characterization, modeling and automated design of semi-rigid 3D joints in steel Structures ", the project wants to highlight the advantages of using semi-rigid joints in the world of construction and design as opposed to the classical ones (articulated and rigid).
The work with these junctions could lead to savings in material and labor that would make them more sustainable with respect to the previously mentioned junctions. The project also entails the development of tools for the global analysis of Structures.
Teams from the University of Navarra and the University of La Coruña have been working successfully in this field in recent years, contributing to the characterization of this subject of joints in both steel and composite Structures .
