Three young architects from Navarre -Marta Ayesa, Fernando Iraburu and Yago Vaillo- have been finalists in the International Rural Tourism Accommodation (RuTA) Vietnam competitionThe students were presented to the Arquideas platform, which they attended while they were taking the Master's Degree in Architecture of the University of Navarra at campus in Madrid.

It is a competition of ideas to design a rural tourism center in the nature of Vietnam. The proposal of the young Navarrese architects consisted of a observation center and lodging for guests who are fond of photography and nestled in a landscape of rice fields.

As the young people explain, "our idea was to integrate into the landscape, forming part of it, for which we proposed that the building should be part of the rice paddy. Thus, by emptying a level line and from this privileged status , we created a large corridor-viewpoint that extends along the entire inhabited line of the rice field. On the other hand, in the section facing the land, the different rooms are created, which receive natural light through a vertical excavation. In this way, an indirect light entrance is designed to create unique spaces".

This project was among the finalists of the competition just before the confinement, which the three young people from Navarre have lived back home: "The three of us were in Madrid taking the qualifying Master's Degree , whose project end of degree program and end of Master's Degree we have to present before June 18. At the same time that we were focusing on this last part of the Master's Degree, we held several competitions such as the one in Vietnam". "These competitions," continues the young woman from Navarre, "serve to introduce us to the world of architectural competitions. Entering them is a dynamic continuous learningnot only about architecture, but also about the different cultures and landscapes of the world, and about the work of other architects. It is very enriching to see the answers that others give to the challenge that each competition poses".

Active" confinement

Marta Ayesa points out that during her own confinement she, along with her two companions from Degree and Master's Degree, have continued, or have entered, more than one contest on this subject. "We have just finished submit another one that we have developed entirely during the time we have not been able to leave home. The three of us know each other well and the means we have now allow us to work as a team without seeing each other, to hold virtual meetings, etc. For us, the use of new technologies is natural. In addition, each of us has a specific and clear role in the team, so working in this way has been easy".

Thus, the three young architects from the University of Navarra remain in the process of several competitions for young architects, such as Opengap or Young Architects Competitions.
