What does this new Degree consist of and what changes does it present with respect to the previous one?

The new Degree in programs of study of Architecture is an opportunity to focus the training offered by the University of Navarra to a new professional horizon, in a collaborative environment and open to an international context.

In the process of transformation of the teaching of architecture that is being experienced in the Spanish university, the School offers this new five-year Degree with a commitment to internationalization and with an intensification in management oriented to three mentions in Creative Management, Urban Management & Technical Management.

It incorporates the teaching by projects, the integrated workshop and the work in teams, while allowing the student to orient their employability and their professional degree program from the Degree. In addition, and in substitution of the current sixth year of the End of degree program, an official Master's Degree program in Architecture with directed internships is offered, which will facilitate the incorporation into professional life both in Spain and abroad.

What motivates this transformation?

It is evident that there is a change in the profession of the architect that must be reflected in the teaching of architecture. The current and future architect, in addition to being part of a team, has a global profile and needs artistic and technical training , accompanied by a great capacity for management. project project In the current Spanish Degree , the first two needs are established and are internationally recognized; but there is a lack of training in management that we want to cover with three mentions oriented towards traditional and new fields of the professional internship : management of the Creative Management (Creative Management), management of the Urban Management (Urban Management) and management of the Technical Management (Technical Management) project .

Why did you wait until the next academic year to implement it?

A first adaptation to Bologna was carried out in 2009. Once this was verified, with the experience of our own degree scroll called Global Architecture Program, with the progressive internationalization of our student body and with the results of the implementation of the innovative Degree at design, it was considered that it was time to make an offer that would situate the School of Architecture as an academic reference in Spain with international projection. 

What differentiates it from the offerings of other universities?

Maintaining the historical instructions of a balanced requirement between creativity and technique, which characterizes and distinguishes the great Spanish schools, the new Degree in programs of study of Architecture offers two new features such as the integration of the Global Architecture Program oriented to the global practice of the profession; and the intensification in management, with three mentions focused on the internship of architecture and the curricular diversification of student.

Keys to the new Degree

• Innovative teaching

The new approach of Degree involves the student in its training with the teaching by projects, many of them real thanks to the partnership with companies and institutions; the commitment to the "vertical workshop" where students from different courses work as a team in the development of projects, combining leadership and responsibility. We also have the latest technologies in the laboratory architecture and digital fabrication workshop.

• Global

In recent years, the profession of architecture has undergone a process of globalization, which is why the Degree in programs of study of Architecture is committed to the internationalization of the teaching with the incorporation of the knowledge of the "Global Architecture" program, the electivity of the Degree in English, international trips and internships, and the presence of professionals of international prestige. The goal is to provide the student with the necessary skills for its employment rate in the international market.

• Management

Architecture is a traditionally entrepreneurial profession, so the Degree in programs of study of Architecture incorporates specific contents in management to the architect's own knowledge, allowing the student fill in its training through three mentions, in Creative Management (management of the project Creative), Urban Management (management of the project Urban) and Technical Management (management of the project Technical). These, in addition to oriented elements, will necessarily have a common and transversal training , on management: Personnel Management Service management business, marketing, etc. With the support of professors from other centers of the University of Navarra, such as the IESE, or the Schools of Economics and Communication.

• Qualifying Master's degree

The new five-year Degree is complemented by an enabling Master's Degree . An official one-year Master's Degree that incorporates to the traditional project End of degree program a specific training in professional and entrepreneurial skills. It will also include directed internships and two sites in Madrid and Pamplona. The latter linked to stays abroad (Amsterdam, London, Mexico, etc).
