Students of the Degrees de PsychologyEconomics (Leadership and Governance Program), ISSA y Medicine attended sessions in which professionals from the Armed Forces shared their experience in leadership and decision-making.

The first session was at position by Lieutenant Colonel Javier Barrio and focused on "Leadership and management of group in a hunting unit", in which he highlighted communication (both internal and external) and motivation as tools for good leadership. "If you have the team well informed, they follow you, they feel motivated." He then emphasized, "The leader must be visible at all times."

"You are future leaders," Lieutenant Juan Batalla, focused in his session on "being a leader under 25," in which he explained his vision of leadership from the point of view of his unit, the military air transport. In it, he related his experience staff having become a leader at a young age, and insisted that experience is a good ally in leadership, so is self-confidence and knowing how to set limits between the professional and the relationship staff with the rest of the team members.

In this line, Captain José Manuel Remis, in his session entitled "Generation of leadership and cohesion of group in the EADA", stressed the importance of "small gestures": "Being the first to jump by parachute, even if it is not necessary to do so, spending leisure time with your team such as going out for dinner or having a coffee, are small actions that bring good results". The captain gave examples of his 25 years of military experience, and added: "I have been promoted through all the posts, I know what the problems of each category are, and this has undoubtedly helped me to get the rest of my colleagues to follow me". He also insisted on the need to use empathy as another leadership tool : "People who show concern for others inspire confidence".

These sessions, called Blue Hat, took place at the University of Navarra on November 6 and 13, and are part of the subject Planning and management of teams, given by the professor of the School of Education and PsychologyLuis Ángel Díaz. In addition to the theoretical sessions, some students who attended these sessions will develop a internship with members of EADA, in which they will apply this knowledge on November 29 and 30 at the Zaragoza Air Base.
