The School of Pharmacy and Nutrition of the University of Navarra, in partnership with the high school Official Dietitians-Nutritionists of Navarra, has organized, on the occasion of the World Dietitians-Nutritionists Day, a roundtable to address the alliance between food and physical activity as fundamental pillars of a healthy lifestyle and weight loss.
The session will be held at position by Dr. Javier Ibáñez, physician at the Center of programs of study, research and Sports Medicine (CEIMD) of the Government of Navarra: " Obesity has been classified by the World Health Organization as a worldwide disease that in the last half century has been growing at epidemic rates. Among the reasons that can explain this increase in obesity rates are the lower physical effort in the work, in transportation and in the daily activities of a person", explains the expert. "In addition, we cannot ignore the widespread tendency to over-consume high-calorie foods."
Dr. Ibáñez will present the answers based on the current scientific evidence and his experience acquired in more than 15 years of profession in the field of sports nutrition. "From the point of view of the treatment of obesity, physical exercise is an essential tool on which much research has been done in order to solve some of the questions that people who want to lose weight ask themselves," he says.
Thus, the specialist will answer questions such as whether regular physical exercise combined with a hypocaloric per diem expenses favors weight reduction; if physical exercise is enough, without a per diem expenses, to produce a significant weight loss; or how to avoid that the lost weight is regained in a few weeks or months.
The session will be held next Wednesday, November 24, at 1:00 p.m., at auditorium of Cima, with entrance free until fill in capacity is reached. It can also be followed live at the following link.
