The Main Library Building hosts the exhibition Constitución de Cádiz. A reformed Spain
In the sample 82 objects are exhibited, including an engraved edition of 'La Pepa', collections of decrees or weapons of the War of Independence.
The entrance hall of the new Libraries Building of the University of Navarra hosts the exhibition Constitución de Cádiz. A reformed Spain. It exhibits up to 82 objects, including an engraved edition of La Pepa, collections of the decrees issued by the Cortes de Cádiz during the period in which they were active and different weapons from the War of Independence, such as pistols, a bayonet and a military telescope.
The exhibition, which has been organized at partnership with the project of the ICS Frontiers and Culture, is composed of bibliographic collections of the section Archive of the Library Services section of Humanities, as well as private collections and some objects on loan from the Military Command.
The inauguration of the sample was attended by the President of the University of Navarra, Ángel J. Gómez-Montoro, the Government delegate in Navarra, Carmen Alba, the military commander of Navarra, José Ignacio González Arteaga and Roberto Jiménez, Minister of Presidency, Public Administrations and Interior of the Government of Navarra.
The sample, which can also be visited online through the web page of the Library Services, is divided into eight sections: The Constitution of 1812, Decrees and Constitution, People, Army, Justice, Ideas and Public Opinion and Mexico.
In addition, a catalog has been published for the exhibition , accompanied by a small bibliographic selection by seven professors from the University of Navarra, which reproduces the pieces exhibited at the sample.
La Pepa, object of study of the XII workshop of Study of classroom Foral
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the Constitution of 1812, the University of Navarra has also dedicated to its analysis the XII workshop of Study of the classroom Foral. Under the degree scroll La Constitución de Cádiz: reformas y repercusiones en Navarra, the School of Law hosted a symposium with the participation of, among others, Carlos Garriga Acosta, Full Professor of History of Law of the University of the Basque Country or Gregorio Monreal Zía, Full Professor of History of Law of the Public University of Navarra.
In addition to the constitutional text of 1812, the Cortes of Cadiz also approved important legal reforms derived from the implementation of the new political principles in internship . With respect to Navarre, for example, the establishment of the new constitutional system meant the end of the status of Kingdom that it still retained well into the 19th century.
The projection of the Constitution in America was also considered at workshop , where an important stage was opened that led to the independence of the then dependent territories.
The classroom Foral was created with the purpose of facilitating the permanent training and the update of the knowledge of Navarrese Law to law practitioners and graduates.
