The Archive of the Library Services of the University of Navarra has prepared a new virtual exhibition entitled "1212 Las Navas de Tolosa". Also, in the entrance hall of the building Library Services of Humanities, is exposed a sample of the documents of the Archive with the same theme.

The texts of the exhibition have been prepared by Professor Julia Pavón Benito, from the department of History, who is currently preparing a monographic book on the battle together with Iñigo Arzoz. Likewise, from Archive, María Calonge has managed the selection of the books. The theme of the study on the Navas de Tolosa is part of the project of research "Frontiers and Culture" of the ICS directed by Dr. Caridad Velarde.

The exhibition tries to rescue the event of the battle and accompanies it with a presentation of its complex context and a panoramic vision of the warlike conflict of the Spanish Middle Ages. The images provided in the virtual exhibition are accompanied by their corresponding explanations. In addition, the whole of the sample is organized under several headings: presentation, historical context, main actors, the battle, the Navarrese presence and the books of the exhibition.

With "1212 Las Navas de Tolosa" the Archive aims to rescue an event of great relevance for the peninsular history to which it alludes in the presentation as "the event that gave a crucial turning point for the Christian domination of Al-Andalus".

The Archive of the Library Services previously published other virtual exhibitions such as Navarra 1512: Conquest and Incorporation, Written America: Americanist collections in Spanish University Libraries or Food, Cooking and Health: from the Golden Age to the Enlightenment.
