Webinar: "Transforming urban wastewater treatment."

07 | 11 | 2024

On November 21, Ceit organizes the webinar "Transforming urban wastewater treatment: Simulation analysis of the best alternatives to remodel WWTPs and optimize their operation".

The purpose of this online event is goal to address the need to remodel and optimize WWTPs (Wastewater Treatment Plants) to meet the requirements of the new European Union directives. In a context where it is necessary to improve the quality of effluent discharge, move towards energy neutrality of the facilities and maximize resource recovery, it is essential to have reliable tools to assess the maximum potential of current facilities and select the most appropriate technologies for their remodeling.

During the webinar, the great potential offered by comprehensive WWTP simulation tools will be presented in order to quickly and safely compare possible alternatives for the remodeling of facilities, as well as to optimize their subsequent operation, taking advantage of the potential of the increasing digitalization of sanitation systems.

This event is aimed at entities responsible for the management of urban sanitation systems, operating companies of such systems and water sector engineering companies.

10:00 - Introduction - Dr. Eduardo Ayesa

10:10 - Current Context and Future Challenges - Dr. Eduardo Ayesa

After a brief review of the evolution of simulation tools over the last decades to optimize design and WWTP operation, we will analyze their role in today's demanding context, marked by the sustainability of facilities and digitalization. What challenges will we face in the coming years? How useful are simulation tools in helping us to respond adequately to these challenges?

10:25 - Diagnosis of capacity and exploration of solutions for WWTPs - Sofia Jaray

After describing the methodology required to rigorously use advanced simulation tools, we will show you some examples of real cases that demonstrate their potential to answer some critical questions: What are the limits of my plant? Can I reduce energy consumption? What refurbishments are priorities? What alternatives are the best for my plant?

10:45 - Conclusions - Dr. Eduardo Ayesa

10:50 - Questions and answers
