Ceit participates in the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian to promote equality in science

Ceit together with thirty-four other Basque entities, is organizing an extensive program in the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian, whose main goal is to highlight the importance of joint responsibility between men and women to promote equal science and technology through different activities.
The main goal of this edition is to highlight the concept of "Hazia erein / Sow the seed", highlighting how every small action can make a difference on the road to equality in science.
The technology center Ceit, along with thirty-four other Basque entities, will be part of the 9th edition of the Emakumeak Zientzianan initiative that seeks to make the work of women in science visible and to promote real equality in the scientific and technological fields. This project, which will take place from February 7 to 15, 2025, is aligned with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, celebrated every February 11.
Sowing equality in science
Under the slogan "Hazia erein / Sow the seed", this edition emphasizes how small actions can generate a deep and lasting change towards equality. Ceit reinforces its commitment to the objectives of the initiative, which include breaking the male stereotypes associated with science and encouraging girls and adolescents to choose scientific careers, promoting a cultural change necessary to build a more inclusive science.
An extensive program of activities
The programming of Emakumeak Zientzian 2025 will include more than 60 activities distributed throughout the Basque Country, aimed at audiences of all ages. Workshops, round tables and visits to research centers will bring science closer to society and highlight the role of women in this field.
The official inauguration will be held on February 6 in Bilbao, in an event that will pay tribute to the women scientists and technologists of the participating entities, highlighting their contribution to the advancement of science and technology.
Ceit opens its doors
As part of this program, Ceit organizes a school visit to its facilitiesoffering ESO students the opportunity to learn about the applied research projects developed by the center at partnership with companies from various sectors. The visit will include a tour of the laboratories and direct interaction with researchers from Ceit, who will share their experience and their role core topic in the technological development .
Women in AI
In addition, on February 10, Olatz Iparraguirre, researcher at Ceit, will participate in a roundtable organized by BAIC (Basque Artificial Intelligence Center). In this meeting, different researchers working in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will share their experiences and reflect on their daily work in this field. This activity will make visible the crucial role of women in a area core topic as AI, promoting scientific vocations among the new generations.
