Workshops and other ICS highlights for the first semester of 2018-2019

They will address issues such as social bonds, the representation of people in today's politics and the narrative of violence in Islam throughout history.

Social bonds, the representation of the people in today's politics and the narrative of violence in Islam in history are some of the topics that will be addressed in workshops and other activities highlighted by the Institute for Culture and Society of the University of Navarra during the first semester of the 2018-2019 academic year.

September will see the openings of the third edition of the Master's Degree in research in Social Sciences and the second edition of the degree scroll Big Data Specialist.    

On Saturday October 13 there will be a concert in the Cathedral of Pamplona to present unpublished works collected in the first volumes of a collection promoted by Chantria Pampilonense. This project of 'Creativity and Cultural Heritageand the Music Chapel of the Cathedral has as goal to preserve, recover and disseminate the historical-musical heritage of the Chapter. The collection is co-published by Ediciones Universidad de Navarra (EUNSA) and the German publishing house Edition Reichenberger.

On the 25th and 26th, the workshop 'Social bonds and staff identity' ( staff) will also take place, which will analyze to what extent social bonds are relevant for the identity of each individual and how identity staff and social relations are linked, among other aspects. It is organized by the project of research 'Bonds, emotion and identity. The Moral Dimension of Social Bonds', by 'Emotional culture and identityThe moral dimension of social bonds', which is financed by the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness.

From November 1 to 3 the project 'Public discourse' is holding the 'Interdisciplinary conference on transitional texts' (congress Interdisciplinar sobre Textos Transicionales), at the framework of the project Marie Skłodowska-Curie 'Locked between formulas: creativity in oral and transitional poetic texts' (ORFORCREA). The term transitional text has been used to describe the continuum between oral and written literature. The papers will deal with disciplines such as cognitive poetics, phraseology, cognitive linguistics, linguistic anthropology, folkloric programs of study ...

meeting annual projects

On the other hand, on the 15th, the VIII edition of the annual ICS meeting is scheduled, the meeting that the center holds every year for researchers from different projects to discuss a common topic of interest to the high school.

From the 22nd to the 24th there will be another 'Public discourse' workshop, graduate 'In the name of the people: representing the people in 21st century politics'. It is promoted by the project 'The demos in the imaginary of the new politics: the discussion on the popular will in the Public discourse in Europe', financed by the Ministry of Economics and Competitiveness. This activity will open the discussion on the discursive configuration of the demos to a wide range of experts in political speech , analysis of speech, multimodal analysis, media studies and political communication.

The last featured activity of semester is the international congress 'The Narrative of Islamic Violence in History. Creation, artifice and reality' (The Narrative of Islamic Violence in History. Creation, artifice and reality', on 14-15 December. It is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Program research and Innovation, at the framework of the scholarship Marie Sklodowska-Curie of researcher framework Demichelis.
