The University of Navarra has awarded the Silver Medal to 130 professionals in recognition of their 25 years of work at the academic center; eleven of them belong to IESE and received this award at an event held in December at the Barcelona campus.

The event, which took place in the Museum's Theater, was presided over by the president, María Iraburu, who thanked the dedication of these professionals who, together, add up to "thousands of years of work, shared stories and impact" on the institution and on society. "Thank you for reminding us that work is not just a means, but a path of donation, of staff fulfillment and of meeting," said the president, after reflecting on the meaning of work and focusing on two of its dimensions: that of donation and that of the link between people.

"We are dedicated to a cause greater than ourselves," he said. From research, teaching or healthcare, "we are contributing to something great: we improve people's lives, we help them to develop and grow, and we build a more humane and caring society. Each person, he added, "leaves a unique mark that reflects staff or her way of understanding life, aspirations and values. And, at the same time, the work also leaves its mark on us, financial aid us to grow: "It is like alaboratory of life' where we discover ourselves".

Secondly, he pointed out that through work , relationships are built: "Our work is deeply staff but not solitary; it is intertwined with those around us, creating a living fabric of partnership and shared purpose . In others we find support and inspiration, and the constant challenge of being support and inspiration for them as well.

The president encouraged the medalists to continue working with the certainty that what they do has a profound and lasting impact. "May every day be an opportunity to give the best of ourselves, to grow and to strengthen the bonds that unite us as a community," the president concluded.

Seeking the truth, open to the world and collaborating

Iñigo Gutiérrez, director of Alumni, spoke on behalf of the medalists. "We work in a place with a great purpose: to transform society from a Christian humanist vision," he stressed.

In my Electronics Technology classes," he recounted, "when a student asks me a question that allows several options, I usually repeat a phrase: 'Maximum freedom and maximum responsibility'". Basically, according to the director of development at Tecnun-School of Engineering, "this principle reflects our Philosophy of work: contribute freely, giving the best of each one of us, and assume the responsibility of aligning our efforts with the objectives of the University's project . Collaborating together with joy and purpose is the core topic so that progress becomes unstoppable".

"Working in search of the truth, open to the world and collaborating with each other and with society are values of which I think the medalists present on stage are living examples; people who, with daily effort, achieve wonderful things," he assured.
