Parish Church of Lesaka
Guatemalan silverware set
In the sacristy there is an important collection of silver pieces, among them the bequest sent by Juan de Barreneche y Aguirre, resident in Guatemala, which includes two chalices, a ciborium, a naveta, a processional cross, an altar, a monstrance, a reliquary and a frontal, plus some objects that were sold. It was sent around 1748 from Santiago de los Caballeros. The gilded silver chalice is composed of a convex circular body and another concave truncated cone. The shaft of very complex composition has a cup with serrated handles, a ring with circular rings and three spheroid bodies with gadroons. The cup is covered with the sub-cup marked by a circular ring washer, the profuse decoration is of vegetal character. The naveta has marks similar to those of the monstrance, it is composed of a flat circular base, shaft with double cylinder between tariffs and curved hull, semicircular bridge and flat prow, ending in a cast crest and is decorated with vegetal motifs in burin.
