Main altarpiece

The monumental main altarpiece dedicated to San Martín is adapted to the polygonal chevet of the church; an altarpiece of great architectural power that its author Tomás de Jáuregui began in 1751. Made in the Rococo style, it is considered the best altarpiece of the Baroque period in Navarre. It has a height of 25 meters and stands on a high plinth. Four very protruding shelves stand out that set the head of an angelote according to a churrigueresque constant. Above them are four giant fluted columns of composite order that support a broken entablature with a cornice decorated with triglyphs.

In the upper part of the main street appears the group of San Martin with a transparent dressing room and, in the templete tabernacle located in the inferior part the Inmaculada is sheltered, both carvings of the sculptor Luis Salvador Carmona. The challenge of sculptures of saints in the Carmona style seem to be by Carmona himself, although there is no evidence that they came from Madrid like the two main figures.
