During the last few days, the Service of External Communications of the University of Navarra has received numerous requests for information from alumni of the University, and from other interested journalists. On this occasion, this Service has organized a workshop of work for journalists with the degree scroll "Conclave to elect a new Pope".

The workshop was held today at the University's headquarters in Calle Zurbano, 73 (Madrid). Pablo Blanco, professor at School of Theology and biographer of the Pope, began the meeting by reviewing the eight years of Benedict XVI's Pontificate. The next speaker was Andrés Martínez, professor of Church History at the University of San Dámaso, who spoke about the challenges facing the Church today. Also participating in workshop were professors Javier Otaduy and María Blanco, who explained the legal aspects of the conclave to the journalists in attendance.

All the presentations were focused on contextual information, useful for journalists; and after each of them there was a question-and-answer session moderated by Teresa Sádaba, professor at School de Comunicación.

Website with resources for journalists

As a conclusion of the workshop, the website http://www.unav.edu/web/conclave-para-elegir-nuevo-papa, a page with useful resources for journalists, created by the University's Digital Communication service, was presented.

The website includes information and contact from experts, access to concepts from Canon Law and answers to terms that can help give context to information that the media will prepare during the period of the vacant see and the celebration of the conclave for the election of the new pope.
