Gold Medal
In 1990 the University awarded the Gold Medal (the highest recognition for outstanding service) to Ismael Sánchez Bella, Juan Jiménez Vargas and Álvaro d'Ors.

bequest Ortiz Echagüe
Also in 1990, the bequest José Ortiz-Echagüe was installed, with SEAT's sponsorship , in a basement of the Central Building, specially equipped to preserve the negatives, original photographs and documents.

Alejandro Llano, new President
The Full Professor Alejandro Llano succeeded Alfonso Nieto as President in 1991. During his tenure, he renewed the plans for programs of study and, thanks to the generous support of the association de Amigos, undertook the construction of several buildings (including the School de Comunicación).

Gold Medals
During official opening of the academic year 1991-1992, the first presided over by the new President, the University Gold Medal was awarded to Francisco Ponz, Carmen López and Amadeo de Fuenmayor.

Law Building
The Law building, designed by architects Rafael Echaide, Mariano González and Juan Miguel Otxotorena, was inaugurated on October 3, 1991. The new building, which had a simple and sober exterior appearance, had 5 classrooms and space for the Office of the Dean and the administrative office of the School.

Campus at IESE in Madrid
Also in 1991, IESE Business School's campus was inaugurated in Madrid: a modern, 11,000m2 building surrounded by beautiful gardens. Carlos Cavallé was IESE's general director ; Rafael Termes, director in Madrid.

1992
Beatification of the founder and first Chancellor
On May 17, 1992, Pope John Paul II celebrated in Rome the beatification of Josemaría Escrivá, founder and first Chancellor of the University.
An academic act of homage to the newly beatified was held at the University on June 26 of that year. -
1994
New honorary doctorates
Bishop Alvaro del Portillo, successor of St. Josemaría, died on March 23, 1994. In January he had presided over the investiture of doctorate 'honoris causa' to Jorge Carreras, Francesco Cossiga, Rafael Frühbeck, Robert Spaemann, Manuel Elices, Leo Scheffczyk and Tadeusz Styczen.

Sports Day
In 1994 the first edition of the Sports Day was held. The Guinness Record was broken in Sokatira, and there was a trial test on the Sadar River and a cycling degree program , and various exhibitions such as the Eagle Patrol.

Colegio Mayor Mendaur
Between 1994 and 1995, a new building was constructed at . high school Mayor was built at campus. Mendaur was located between the car park of the then Law building and the Iturrama neighborhood. It is the work of the architect Carlos Docal.

Gold Medals
In 1995, during the inauguration of the new academic year, the President awarded the Gold Medal of the University to José Cañadel, Félix Álvarez de la Vega and Joaquín Casellas; and posthumously, to Jesús Vázquez at degree scroll .

Communication Building
In 1996, the current building of the School de Comunicación was inaugurated, a "habitable sculpture" in the words of its architect, Ignacio Vicens, "in which the color is provided by the students".
Until then, the School had been at Central Building. -
1996
Radio University of Navarra
In 1996, 98.3 Radio (today, Radio Universidad de Navarra), the University's radio station, was founded. However, its FM broadcasts did not begin until 1999. It was on October 6 of that year, in an event at School of Communication, when the station was officially presented.

José María Bastero, new President
José María Bastero took office as President on October 22, 1996. A naval and industrial engineer, he had directed Tecnun and Ceit until 1993. Since 1992 he had been Vice President of research.

1997
Gold Medal of Navarre
The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Sanz, presented the Gold Medal of Navarre to the University during a ceremony held on December 3, 1997. The President was very grateful for it: "it symbolizes the close connection between the University and society", he said.

award Brajnovic
In 1997, the School of Communication created the award Brajnovic to honor the figure and career of Professor Luka Brajnovic. It is awarded to those communicators who have stood out for a professional career marked by the defense of freedom, human values and the dignity of people.
The writer Miguel Delibes, former director of the 'Norte de Castilla', was the first recipient of the award. -
1997
New phase of the Clinic and expansion of the Science Library
Also in 1997, a new phase of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, designed by Leopoldo Gil Nebot, and the extension building of the Science Library, designed by architects Jesús Bazal and Ángel Fuertes, were inaugurated.

Gold Medal to ADA
In 1998, the association of Friends of the University received the Gold Medal. Its president, Álvaro Lacalle Leoup, received it from President José María Bastero.

Science Museum
In 1998 the Science Museum of the University of Navarra was inaugurated, which includes several collections donated to the University and the collections of the Botanical Herbarium and the Zoology Museum. It is exhibited in showcases at Hexagon Building, until it has its own home at the new BIOMA Center.

New honorary doctorates
ChancellorIn 1998, Bishop Javier Echevarría presided over the investiture of three new honorary doctors: Douwe Breimer (School of Pharmacy), Joseph Ratzinger (School of Theology) and Julian Simon (School of Economics).

Library Services New
In the 1998-1999 academic year, the new building at Library Services Nueva, designed by the architects, professors at School of Architecture, Javier Carvajal and Ignacio Araujo, was inaugurated.

award Prince of Viana to Álvaro d'Ors
Professor Ávaro d'Ors received on July 5, 1999, in the Monastery of Leyre and from the hands of the then Prince Felipe, the award Príncipe de Viana, the highest honor with which Navarre distinguishes representatives of culture.

Ortiz de Landázuri Lesson
The I Eduardo Ortiz de Landázuri Memorial Lecture, given in 1999 by Professor Donnall Thomas, award Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1990.
