Ramón Salaverría, researcher and professor at the University of Navarra, has been appointed one of the thirteen members of the Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of the European Newspaper Industry of committee Europe. The Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of average (MSI-RES) will meet for the first time on 31 March and has, over the next two years, a double goal: to guide policies on the use of Artificial Intelligence in journalism, and promote initiatives for the sustainable financing of the media industry.

Ramón Salaverría is the current coordinator of the line Society and Digital Communication of the University of Navarra, one of the three frameworks of research with focus of the Strategy 2025 of the academic center, which has sustainability as a transversal axis. In this context, Salaverría explained that "ensuring the sustainability of journalistic media, which has been seriously compromised in recent years, is core topic for European democracies". According to the Full Professor of Journalism of the University of Navarra, "we need media that are committed to technological innovation based on sustainable models; that is why from the committee of Europe we will elaborate guidelines for the member countries, with the goal to guarantee quality, independent and sustainable journalism throughout the continent".

Ramón Salaverrría has been researcher in digital media for more than twenty-five years. At the University of Navarra he has been director of the department of Journalism Projects, first director of Digitalunav - Center for Internet Studies and Digital Life and Associate Dean of Research of the School of Communication. He was researcher visitor at the University of Texas at Austin (USA) and president of the Journalism Studies Section of the European Communication Research & Education Association (ECREA) during the period 2010-12.

class In 2012 the UN, through its United Nations Alliance of Civilizations division, included him in the directory Global Experts, which selects more than 300 "world experts" in different disciplines. He is the author of more than 250 academic and professional publications, and of the book online journalism en Iberoamérica (2016), an account of the evolution of digital media in the 22 countries of Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
