Samuel Jofré, graduate of the School of Canon Law, new bishop of Villa María (Argentina)
The appointment took place on the last day of Benedict XVI's pontificate.
On the last day of his pontificate, Benedict XVI has appointed the priest Samuel Jofré, in Argentina. Bishop of Villa Maríain Argentina. The new bishop is graduate in Canon Law from the University of Navarra and a doctorate from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome).
Samuel Jofré was born in 1957 in Córdoba (Argentina). He studied Economics at the National University of Córdoba and programs of study ecclesiastical studies at seminar mayor Nuestra Señora de Loreto, in that city. He was ordained priest in 1983 and has served as parochial vicar at Nuestra Señora del Pilar and as pastor of San Roque and Nuestra Señora de Fátima.
He also taught religion at the Gustavo Martínez Zuviría secondary school high school , Moral Theology at the Lumen Christi Tertiary Institute and Canon Law at seminar Mayor de Santiago del Estero.
He has also written the legal work La discusión sobre el derecho a la vida del niño por nacer.
He has been a judge of the Interdiocesan Tribunal of Cordoba since 2009 and pastor of Santo Cristo since 2010.
