Amelia Martí del Moral, Professor of Physiology at School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra and board member of Nutrition of high school of Pharmacists of Navarra (COF), presented the results of the campaign "Education nutritional in menopause". Together with Pilar García, President of the COF, and Marta Vera, Health Counselor of the Government of Navarra, Professor Martí del Moral has made a positive balance of this 5th Edition of the Plenufar health program, promoted by the committee General of Official Associations of Pharmacists. The goal of the campaign has tried to raise awareness among women in this physiological stage to acquire healthy lifestyle habits, such as a varied and balanced diet, in order to help them maintain a good general state of health and mitigate the symptoms of menopause.
Among the nutritional guidelines, Martí del Moral, has indicated that it is important to "have an active lifestyle, combating sedentary lifestyles". "Eradicating smoking", says the expert, also financial aid to cope with the effects of menopause. A recommendation addressed to 54% of the 161 women interviewed (half of them smokers and the rest former smokers). Regarding food, the professor of the University of Navarra points out that "increasing the consumption of legumes, fruits and nuts, typical of the Mediterraneanper diem expenses " financial aid to soften the changes of menopause, at the same time that "prevents other diseases such as diabetes, overweight or obesity or depression". As Martí del Moral recalls, these guidelines "are known habits, but they have to be taken to the works".
