A total of 650 first year high school students have participated in two conference on Smoking Prevention held at the University of Navarra. Organized by the association Spanish Against Cancer (AECC), they have brought together students from El Huerto, IES place de la Cruz, Hijas de Jesús, San Cernin, San Ignacio and Santa Teresa de Jesús.

With the aim of preventing the repercussions of tobacco consumption and transmitting positive messages about the benefits of not smoking, Dr. Elena Villafranca, a medical oncologist at the Navarra Hospital Complex, gave a session entitled "What you get when you smoke" in which she analyzed aspects such as the beginning of smoking and its different phases, the consequences of smoking and conclusions. Likewise, the Navarre mountaineer Pitxi Eguillor promoted healthy lifestyle habits through sports to teenagers.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the participation of athletes Amaya Osaba (canoeing), Juan Peralta (cycling) and Javier Lopez Vallejo (soccer), who shared their experiences and raffled various sports equipment.

The activity, in which the University of Navarra, the Osasuna Foundation, the Miguel Indurain Foundation and the Navarra Health Service have collaborated, has among its objectives to inform adolescents of the consequences of smoking, to show the harmful effects of tobacco from the hands of specialists or to prevent the initiation of consumption at this age.
