First award for entrepreneurs of the Roque Bergareche Foundation

Gerard Vidal, PhD in physics from the University of Navarra and founder of the start-up Enigmedia, has been selected among more than 300 innovative companies.

Gerard Vidal, PhD in physics from the University of Navarra, haswon the first edition of award Roque Bergareche Entrepreneur result . Vidal is the founder of Enigmedia, a start-up that allows secure videoconferencing anywhere, which has been selected among 300 business projects.

Enigmedia arose from the doctoral thesis developed by Gerard Vidal and directed by Professor Héctor Mancini, from the Physicsdepartment , on Chaos Theory, as a result of which he managed to define and develop a unique algorithm based on this theory. As a result of these programs of study arose the idea of applying it to cryptography with the support of information technologies, in order to offer an effective and efficient encryption capable of guaranteeing the privacy of communications. Thus was born the enigmedia technology, based on the application internship of its thesis in the field of telecommunications.

The winner received 40,000 euros from award to promote their start-up, in addition to benefiting from the experience of committee advisor of the Roque Bergareche Mendoza Foundation, accommodation free of charge for six months at the Alojatic business incubator facilities, and a four-month personalized mentoring program by Cink Emprende, focused on accelerating and strengthening early-stage business projects.
