The University's School of Philosophy and Letters has launched a new edition of the programs of study Focused Course on Women, which will be taught online starting next February 20. How have women contributed to the development of history? What have been the female contributions to the Humanities, health and social sciences, art, or the world of law? These will be some of the topics that experts from different fields will address in the program, which will run until June 11.

"In order to participate rigorously in the conversation about equality, it is important to have well-founded arguments, with data historical, original and reliable sources. In this way, we will have a complete, real and authentic vision of the events". This was stated by María Cruz Díaz de Terán, professor of Philosophy of Law and coordinator professor of the course, during the session "Feminism or Feminisms?", organized to present the program.

"There is no need to be afraid of the concept of "feminism". If we go to its original meaning, it means equal rights and opportunities between men and women," said the jurist. "Another matter is that certain feminist movements have given it another meaning, which is why today it is more accurate to speak of feminisms, since there are many movements," she added.

In this context, the goal of the Online Focused Course of programs of study on Women is to rescue from oblivion those women who, from different fields of knowledge, have favored the evolution of their disciplines. To this end, topics such as women's suffragism, women's access to the University, their role in war conflicts or their presence in the plastic arts, cinema or Western literature will be addressed.

As Professor Díaz de Terán explained, the faculty is made up of male and female professors, "because equality is not just a matter of women for women, but concerns all of us, and men and women must go hand in hand".

The price of the enrollment is 336.30 euros. Those interested can register until February 10.
