"Through prayer I fell in love with God and discovered the responsibility of being a priest," says Francisco Javier de Leon. He is 25 years old, lives at seminar Bidasoa International and is currently studying the 2nd year of high school diploma in Theology at the University of Navarra.

"I knew about the University, but I never imagined that I would study outside of Guatemala, not even in Europe and much less at the University of Navarra. It was God's decision and a dream that is being fulfilled," he says with emotion.

Francisco Javier finished his programs of study at the age of 18 and shortly after he joined as a professor at high school Capouillez in Guatemala, to teach class Mathematics. For the next five years he combined the teaching with the degree program of Engineering at the Universidad San Carlos (USAC).

Since I was a teenager I participated in the Youth Promotion Meetings organized by the Archdiocese of Santiago. At that time he had a girlfriend and was very involved in the youth activities of these meetings. He lived happily with his mother and grandmother.

However, the meeting of Youth Promotion held in July 2012 allowed him to discover that his path was going in a different direction: that of the priesthood. With the restlessness within him, he spoke to his spiritual director . He continued with his work professor and it was the election of Pope Francis as Supreme Pontiff that convinced him. After much prayer he took a step forward: "I was struck by how the humility of a man after God's example is capable of attracting the masses".

A few months later the bishop of his diocese encouraged him to come to the University of Navarra. "I just thought, 'Lord, what do you want from me?' And I remembered again and again the passage from the Bible: 'Do not be afraid, just have faith.' It's worth the risk, the fear you feel at the beginning is transformed into joy."
