The University celebrates for the first time "La noche de los Investigadores": a bridge between the research and society

More than 30 researchers communicated to the public what their work consists of and its social impact.

The University opened its doors to celebrate the first edition of "La noche de los investigadores y las investigadoras", where attendees were able to learn first-hand about some of the topics researched by the University and their impact .

In this first edition they communicated the value of their contributions from different areas on topics related to biomedicine and health, law, sociology, history, Economics, communication and experimental and technical sciences.

The development of gene therapy treatments to cure kidney diseases; the implementation of new technologies such as artificial intelligence for efficiency in medical internship ; the crucial role of micrology in diseases such as Alzheimer's or improving the diagnosis and personalizing the treatment of patients suffering from heart failure were some of the issues that researchers in the health field brought to the public's attention. In addition to explaining what their work consists of, they also explained the solutions and contributions they intend to achieve. Regarding the problem of kidney diseases, Rafael Aldabe, researcher of the Cimasaid that "at partnership with the Clínica Universidad de Navarra, we are going to develop surgical instruments and identify the conditions necessary to apply the treatment effectively and safely".

Within the Humanities and social sciences, the audience had the opportunity to hear presentations on current issues such as the problem of non-jurisdictional control of the international protection of human rights; improvements in couples therapy; a novel approach to the history of the Americas and their identity; decision-making models in economic environments; and coverage of international conflicts, such as the war in Ukraine and modern propaganda. 

Finally, in the field of experimental and technical sciences, it is worth mentioning a study on energy from ground vibrations, at position by Martín Maza, from the School de Ciencias. Another subject of research was a work of Tecnun- School of Engineering, which consists of a radar that can wirelessly detect a large issue of properties of the environment, being able to segregate materials for recycling or identify the ripening of agricultural products.

Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Navarra, -organizer of the event at partnership with the Science Museum- assured that "the dissemination of research is one of the most important challenges for professionals in the academic field". Up to 12 PhD researchers and more than 20 students from doctorate took on this challenge and transferred their work.
