Nearly 200 students at the University's Autumn Career Forum

Eleven companies presented their job offers and there were 4 on line selection processes. campus

campus Nearly 200 students participated in the Autumn Career Forum, the employment forum organized by Career Services, the Careers Office of the University of Navarra, with the goal to bring together leading companies in the biosanitary sector and students interested in planning their employment rate.

Throughout the morning there were various talks and workshops on how to apply to spanish pharmacy residency program or biochemistry residency program, on the different master's degrees at area biosanitaria, on how to become a member of a professional association or on the requirements scholarships and programs at doctorate to guide their degree program to research. The students also attended a roundtable with alumni who narrated in first person their incorporation into the working world. Interested students were also able to apply for 4 selections on campus for an offer of employment at Johnson&Johnson and two offers from Sendaviva, as well as one scholarship for CINFA.

In total, 11 companies attended the forum and attended the students in the Networking-Open Space: Johnson & Johnson, CINFA, 3P Biopharmaceuticals, Sendaviva, Viscofan, Iden Biotechnology, high school Oficial de Biólogos, Másteres Universidad de Navarra, high school Oficial de Dietistas Nutricionista de Navarra, high school Oficial de Farmacéuticos de Navarra and the multinational Simón Kucher & Partners. Precisely the director of the latter business, Covadonga López-Sors, a graduate in Biology from the University of Navarra, highlighted during the forum the great boost that the area of the strategic consultancy service is experiencing: "This job opportunity prepares you to interact with people from different sectors and countries and to get used to solving problems and to be very dynamic, so that later this profile is very attractive for companies".

Nearing 100% of the employment rate

The Autumn Forum has counted with the sponsorship of Johnson & Johnson, whose Talent Acquisition Partner representative , Paula Puertas, stressed the importance of graduates having both a high level of English and a positive and motivated attitude towards new work challenges: "At the University we find very good scientific profiles, but we also look for people who, being young, do more than just study. They are active and dynamic, they move to get to know the industry and other sectors, they are curious and we value this attitude".

This forum is the first of three organized annually by Career Services. In this case it was limited to the Schools of area biosanitary -except Medicine and Pharmacy- whose data employability rate is close to 100%. In the case of Biology graduates, employment rate one year after finishing degree program is 92%, 97% at Biochemistry and 100% at Chemistry. This percentage also includes graduates who are doing a postgraduate program in national or international universities. These data, according to those responsible for the School, are much higher than those of the average of the Spanish universities where these programs are offered Degrees.

In the case of Pharmacy and Nutrition, 91% of the students who completed the 2014-15 academic year are employed: 100% in the case of Pharmacy graduates, 90% of those who do the double Degree Pharmacy+Nutrition and 85% of those who opt for Nutrition. Among the majority employment opportunities for pharmacists, community pharmacy stands out, followed by industry and spanish pharmacy residency program (Resident Pharmacist Intern). And in the case of graduates in Nutrition or in Nutrition + Pharmacy, 83% work in a dietetic enquiry , while 17% opt for mass catering.
