The Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality supports the initiative 'Vespa Extreme - Wheels for Life'.
Adventurer José Antonio Fernández will travel 10,000 kilometers between Pamplona and Dakar to raise funds for the University of Navarra's Tropical Health high school

The Spanish adventurer José Antonio Fernández will start next November 21 a degree program to Dakar, framed in the project 'Vespa Extreme - Wheels for Life'. This initiative consists of trips on Vespa to remote places with the goal to raise funds for the high school of Tropical Health of the University of Navarra (ISTUN) and raise awareness in society about neglected diseases, which affect millions of people.
José Antonio Fernández together with Professor Paul Nguewa, director of high school, have been received today by the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, Dolors Montserrat, to whom they have explained the solidarity project .
This expedition will take José Antonio Fernández to travel the route from Pamplona to Dakar (Senegal) without any logistical support subject . He will also deliver medicines to the Hospital Center University Aristide Le Dantec. The Pamplona - Dakar - Pamplona route is a journey of almost 10,000 kilometers, of which about 6,000 are on roads and tracks between dunes. This is the second "Vespa Extreme" adventure that José Antonio Fernández has undertaken, after becoming last January the first person to reach the North Cape on a Vespa in plenary session of the Executive Council winter and without financial aid.
Vespa Extreme - Wheels for Life' started in May a fundraising campaign for the development of this solidarity trip with the goal to raise 500,000 euros to cover the financing needs of the high school of Tropical Health of the University of Navarra. The goal of the high school consists of finding solutions for diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of diseases in developing countries development as well as sharing training.
In addition, a space has been set up on its website for individual donors to make their solidarity contributions.
