Juan Garrido is one of the legends of the University. Known and loved by all students who have ever entered Amigos, he has been here for 33 years now as porter . However, he has not lost a hint of his Cordovan accent.

  1. Why were you nominated?
    I don't know, but the truth is that I feel very grateful.
     

  2. Your perfect breakfast
    As a good Andalusian, coffee with milk and good toast with olive oil and tomato.
     

  3. You have chosen this conference room of the Friends tower as your favorite corner of the University. Why?
    Yes, because from here I can see the whole campus. I come up here at closing time and it gives me a lot of peace to look out the window and see how the University has grown, how it is now.
     

  4. Few people know that you live in the campus
    Very few people do, yes, and I've been there for thirty years. Before, almost all the University buildings had housing, but now mine remains.
     

  5. Tell us about your work as a porter
    Well, I do everything: from attending to people, to see if the public address system is working, to watch over the health of those of us who are here... it's not just asking for ID cards.
     

  6. What surprised you the most when you arrived at the University?
    The atmosphere and the people I met.
     

  7. A book: The Bible A movie: How beautiful it is to live, by Capra A song: Tu enemigo, by Juanes and Pablo Lopez
     

  8. With which current person would you have a cup of coffee? With Pope Francis. What would be the first question you would ask him? I would ask him to pray for Humanity.

9. Who do you admire?
All those people who are on missions in complicated countries and who have so little recognition from society.


10. What is the most rewarding part of your day-to-day work?
Knowing that I have done my work well or that I have tried to do it well.
 

11. A historical figure you would have liked to meet
My fellow countryman Seneca.
 

12. How would you like to change the world
By changing the mentality of society, which in many aspects is losing its values.
 

13. What would you take to a desert island
A book. If I say my family, they'll kill me.


14. You have been at the University for more than 30 years. What has impacted you the most?
In a good way, the people I have met. And in a bad way, the attacks.
 

15. A committee for students
Let them learn.


16. Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
God willing, retired! In Navarra, because my wife is from here.
