25 science students at the University of Navarra defend their business idea

25 students from the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra defended their business idea before an investment jury made up of representatives from the business sector. This activity is part of the Diploma in management and Business Creation in Science, which closed at Amigos Building of the academic center.
An investment jury formed by Nora Alonso-Casajús, CEO of Iden Biotechnology; David García Yoldi, director of Inbiolev; Carlos González Ojer, director of Laboratorios Ojer Pharma; and Roberto Ruilope, director General Manager of AGROLAB, chose the best business idea among all the proposals. These ideas have been worked on by the students, in groups of five, during the last module dedicated to entrepreneurship.
The business idea U-shoe, from the team formed by Mikel Aizcorbe, Iñigo Javier Etayo, Lucía Gurruchaga and Juan Irure, was the best evaluated by the jury. As they explain, U-shoe is a footwear business for pregnant women. "When a woman becomes pregnant, the Issue and weight of her belly increases, which has many repercussions on all parts of her body, but especially on her feet. U-shoe manufactures shoes with comfortable materials, both in the sole and in the rest of the body of the product, which on the one hand cushion the weight of the woman and her baby, and on the other hand, adapt to the changes in the shape of the feet due to swelling.
This was followed by the submission of the award for the best business idea and the presentation of the diplomas accrediting the course. The event was attended by the Dean of the School of Sciences, Ignacio López-Goñi; the manager of Professional Careers of the Foundation business -University of Navarra, Álvaro Giráldez; a representative of the Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Navarra (CEN), Javier Iradiel; and Ana Ursúa Lasheras, director of Ain_consulting.
The Diploma in management and Business Creation in Science was created in 2011 as a complement to the scientific training that students receive at class. During this time, participants have been acquiring competencies and skills in different areas of organizations: management, negotiation, analysis, creativity, employment opportunities, finance or communication.
Issued by the Foundation business -University of Navarra and the School of Sciences, in partnership with the CEN, it has counted with the participation of about thirty professionals from the fields of universities, biotechnology companies, food companies or pharmaceutical companies. Among them: Iden Biotechnology, Viscofan, Pamplonica, Lacturale, Nasertic or Laboratorios CINFA.
The activity has been financed by the Navarre Service of employment.
