Mª Victoria Navarta, researcher at the School of Nursing of the University of Navarra, wasselected by the European Academy of Nursing Science (EANS) to participate in a course of update at research, held in Nijmegen (The Netherlands). There she attended classes given by prominent professors from different European countries.

The objectives of this course were to provide nursing professionals with tools that would enable them to develop quality scientific production and, at the same time, to promote the creation of research teams at the European level. "It has been a great opportunity to meet nurses who are developing programs of study in my area, start exchanging knowledge and ideas and establish future links of work" says Navarta.

The European Academy of Nursing Science is committed to a combined methodology, consisting of the union of quantitative and qualitative methods, to obtain a more complete view of the phenomena. "The application of this methodology makes it possible to advance in the knowledge of many current problems that the nursing professional must face," he stresses. "In my specific case, which is researching how to help people with Parkinson's disease and their families to better overcome difficulties, putting it on internship has been a great success."

For the realization of this course, the researcher has counted with a subsidy of the Chair María Egea and the European Science Foundation. "It has been a very enriching experience, and I hope it will help me to ensure that the research we carry out, within the ReNACE program (Recovery, Normalization, Acceptance and Coexistence with the Disease), is reflected in improvements for society".
