The digital edition of the Bible of the University of Navarra collects, in a publication designed to be consulted from mobile devices, the five volumes of the Holy Bible published by the School of Theology of Navarra and EUNSA in successive editions from 1976 to 2004. The book, which costs 2'99€ at its launch price, converts to a small size file , between 6 and 10 megabytes, the five volumes that in its paper edition have more than 6,600 pages and cost more than 240€.

The Bible can be downloaded in advance from iTunes iBooks, Google Play and Amazon at reserve . From October 17, the purchase can be made from these same digital platforms. In addition to the digital version, a Latin American version, adapted to the Spanish of that part of the world, is being offered for the first time.

The edition of the Holy Bible is translated from the original texts, following the guidelines of the Second Vatican Council (Dei Verbum, issue 22). In addition, it is complemented by a set of commentaries and cross-references that allow us to understand the central message of each passage and the purpose of the sacred authors. Thus, of the total size of file, a little more than two thirds of the content corresponds to commentaries, indexes, introductions and maps that complement the reading; the rest, to the original translated text.

The Bible is complemented by some 38,700 internal links that allow easy navigation between the biblical text, commentaries, glossary and passages. As noted, it also includes a quick index that simplifies navigation within its contents, and an analytical index that will continue to be updated and improved.

The Holy Bible of the University of Navarra, on which this digital edition is based, is a prestigious work that has sold more than 30,000 copies in its various editions. The edition of this book dates back to the commission given by St. Josemaría Escrivá, Founder of Opus Dei and first Chancellor of the University of Navarra, to the School of Theology of this university. The desire of the Founder of Opus Dei was that this School would offer the sacred text in a careful Spanish translation, accompanied by abundant notes and appropriate introductions explaining its spiritual and theological message. Thus, the text has tried to respect two desires: on the one hand, to maintain fidelity to the original and to the forms of expression in language Hebrew; and, on the other hand, to present a fluid and intelligible essay .
