Today, Thursday, at 12 noon, the Parliament of Navarra will host the roundtable "Educating for the social service: an answer to poverty". This is the second roundtable of "Civic Parliament", an initiative of the University of Navarra and the Parliament that aims to create a space for intellectual reflection with the goal to help address the problems and challenges of today's society and promote democratic values and citizen participation.

On this occasion, three development workers will share their experiences and explain what motivates them to actively participate in the fight against poverty. The speakers will be Alberto Lafuente, head doctor of the AECID contingent in Haiti, director doctor of DYA Navarra and anesthesiologist doctor in the Clínica Universidad de NavarraEnrique Abad, manager of Committees and Volunteer Tents of Intermón OXFAM; and Pablo Zarauza, Journalism student and volunteer in Cambodia of the NGO Por la Sonrisa de un Niño. The moderator will be roundtable Concepción Naval, Vice President of the University of Navarra and professor of department of Education of the academic center.

Beforehand, at 11:30 a.m., there will be a guided tour of the Parliament visit for all those interested. The session will be broadcast live on Twitter (@pcivico), so that Internet users can follow the discussions and participate with questions or contributions.

"Civic Parliament" aims to provide a platform for meeting of ideas, study and analysis of the current reality. In the first roundtable, held in June 2010, the discussion dealt with technology as a factor of exclusion or as an element of relationship and social participation.
