The high school Danone has awarded the scientific work of the University of Navarra professor Alfredo Martínez for his contribution to the study of obesity and nutrition. The scientist will receive the award on December 18 in Santiago de Compostela.

Among the objectives of high school Danone (association scientific and non-profit) is to promote research and Education on food, nutrition and health issues. To this end, it awards scholarships and grants each year to university graduates, and prizes to knowledge dissemination scientific journalism and scientific career.

Alfredo Martínez is Full Professor and professor at the University of Navarra, director of the Nutrition and Health Distance Learning Courses of campus pamplonés and advisor of the European Union on nutrition-related topics. He was recently president of the Spanish Society of Nutrition (1999-2001) and corresponding academic of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy (1997).

Prof. Martínez previously carried out academic and research work at the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, the Basque Country and Nottingham (UK). high school He has also done research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the USA and at the University of Berkeley (California, USA). In addition, he is the author of more than 350 publications, 100 communications at national and international conferences and more than 40 book chapters on nutrition and obesity.
