"Navarre photography. The collection of the Marquis de la Real Defensa".
Ignacio Miguéliz's book will be presented at the Guendulain Palace in Pamplona.
The Chair of Heritage and Art of Navarre of the University of Navarra, together with the Government of Navarrethe Mencos Foundation Foundation and the Diario de Navarra Foundation presents the book "Fotografía navarra. La colección del marqués de la Real Defensa", written by the professor and researcher Ignacio Miguéliz Valcarlos. The event will take place next Tuesday 9th, at 19:00h, in the Guenduláin Palace.
The photographic collection kept by the Marquises of La Real Defensa constitutes a very important collection within the panorama of Navarre's photographic archives. This collection not only includes images from topic or taken by Navarrese photographers, but also includes other snapshots taken by Spanish and international photographers, as well as by various members of the family, as amateur photographers.
Ignacio Miguéliz Valcarlos is graduate in Geography and History from the Autonomous University of Madrid (1996) and PhD in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Navarra (2004), Degree obtained with the doctoral thesis El Arte de la platería en Guipúzcoa. Siglos XV - XVIII, published by the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa in 2008. Since 2006 he has been working as a curator at the Museum of the University of Navarra. He is also professor of the department of History of Art in the associated center of the UNED of Pamplona and Adjunct Professor of the department of History, History of Art and Geography of the University of Navarra.
His main lines of research focus on heritage cataloging, silverware and jewelry, iconography and photography. He has curated two photographic exhibitions held by the Mencos Foundation of Tafalla, Photography in Navarra: The collection of the Marquis of the Royal Defense (2012) and Navarrese authors in the photography collection of the Marquis of the Royal Defense (2013). He is the author of several chapters of books and articles in specialized magazines and of catalogue cards in exhibitions held in Navarra or Tarazona.
