Samuel López Checchini, Nahia Aranda and Alejandra Lorente, winners of the Navarre Biology Olympiad

The test was held at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra with the participation of 90 students from 18 schools.

Samuel López Checchini, student of high school Irabia-Izaga of Pamplona, has been the winner of the regional phase of the Biology Olympiad. In the test, held at the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra, 90 students from 18 schools participated. The second best result was for Nahia Aranda, from high school Liceo Monjardín, and the third place went to Alejandra Lorente, student of IES Ribera del Arga (Peralta).

Students Naiara Valencia, Raúl Carrasco, Esther Ciordia, Itsaso Salinas, Judith Callejo, Julen Casulleras, Leyre Sánchez, Iratxe Sola and Amaia Zudaire also received special mentions.

The top three finishers will participate, from March 26-29, in the national phase of the Biology Olympiad, to be held at the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. Likewise, the students who obtain the three best positions in the national test will opt for the international test , which this year will take place in Nagasaki (Japan), from July 3 to 11. The 4th, 5th and 6th place winners in the national phase will be able to compete in the Iberoamerican Biology Olympiad, to be held from September 6 to 12 in San José (Costa Rica).

At the awards ceremony submission members of high school of Biologists Rafael Mayorga Más and Alicia Soria Tosantos; and Juan José Irigoyen, professor of the School of Sciences of the University of Navarra.
